In a nation accustomed to political theatrics, it takes a truly scandalous allegation to silence the noise and draw a collective gasp. That moment has arrived, courtesy of one of an industry’s most recognizable faces. Anjo Yllana, a man whose name was once synonymous with wholesome noontime entertainment on “Eat Bulaga,” has stepped forward with a bombshell claim: a “pervert” is walking the halls of the Philippine Senate.
This is not a vague accusation. Yllana, who claims to have worked within the Senate from 2022 to 2024, has alleged that a sitting senator, specifically one elected in the 2022 polls, is harboring a dark “sickness.” The allegations, which have since been amplified by vloggers and are now catching fire across social media, paint a disturbing picture of depravity and a grotesque abuse of power. The fallout has been immediate, sparking not only public outrage but also pointed calls for a formal investigation to be led by Senate President Tito Sotto.
The story, as detailed by Yllana and relayed by vlogger Chris Ulo, begins with a supposed insider account. Yllana claims he was told the story by another incumbent senator, a “friend,” who recounted a disturbing encounter with the newly elected colleague. According to the tale, shortly after the 2022 election, this new senator allegedly invited his peers for a celebratory outing. The chosen destination was not a respectable lounge or restaurant, but “Pegasus,” a well-known adult entertainment club in Quezon Boulevard.
The invitation was reportedly met with immediate refusal from the other senators, who, according to the source, rebuked their new colleague. “We can’t do that anymore. We are senators now,” they allegedly told him, highlighting the expected decorum of their high office. This incident alone, while indicative of poor judgment, could perhaps be dismissed as a rookie misstep. But Yllana’s claims did not stop there. The story quickly spiraled from a tale of simple indiscretion into a narrative of habitual perversion and potential criminality.
Yllana went on to claim that he had heard other rumors, which he admitted were unverified “chismis” (gossip) at the time, that substantiated his “pervert” label. He alleged that women working at the Pegasus club had complained about this specific senator, claiming he would make them perform “various things” (“kung ano-anong mga pinapagawa daw”). The vagueness of the accusation only fuels the imagination, suggesting acts of coercion or degradation that go far beyond the establishment’s usual services.
Even more disturbing, Yllana dropped a second, more serious allegation. He claimed to have heard that staff applicants, desperate for a job, were being exploited by this same senator. “The payment,” Yllana insinuated, “well… you know.” This thinly veiled statement points directly to a “sextortion” scheme or quid pro quo harassment, where public office is allegedly being leveraged to demand sexual favors in exchange for employment.
This accusation transforms the narrative entirely. If true, it is no longer a matter of private morality but a case of gross misconduct and a severe breach of public trust.
The online amplification of these claims has been swift. Vlogger Chris Ulo, in a widely circulated reaction video, captured the public’s shock. “That’s a sickness,” Ulo declared, visibly disturbed by the report. “You cannot have a public servant, a politician serving the people, who has that kind of sickness. What if he suddenly commits a crime right inside the Senate?”
Ulo’s broadcast then pivoted from shock to a demand for action. He made a direct public appeal to Senate President Tito Sotto, himself a former colleague of Yllana’s at “Eat Bulaga.” Ulo argued that the Senate, as an institution, cannot afford to ignore an accusation of this magnitude. “Senator Tito Sotto, I hope you see this,” Ulo pleaded, “Anjo Yllana should be invited to the Senate.”
The call is for a formal inquiry, likely through the ethics committee, to compel Yllana to testify under oath. The public wants him to name his source—the senator who allegedly told him the story—and, most importantly, to identify the senator at the center of the accusations. “He needs to be questioned,” Ulo insisted, “so we can find out who this ‘pervert’ senator is. This is dangerous.”
While the allegations have stunned the public, a significant part of the backlash has unexpectedly turned on the messenger himself. Yllana, once a respected comedian, actor, and public servant (having served as a councilor and vice mayor), is now facing a trial in the court of public opinion. The vlogger, Chris Ulo, expressed a sentiment shared by many: a profound sense of disappointment and pity.
“What happened to Anjo Yllana?” Ulo mused, “He has really lowered himself… The respect he earned as a politician, the respect he earned from the people, his legacy in show business… he has replaced it all with this kind of character. He has become a gossiper.”
This sentiment highlights a tragic irony. In his attempt to expose the alleged filth of another, Yllana has soiled his own reputation. Ulo observed that even as Yllana attacks this unnamed senator, Yllana himself appears “pitiful” (kawawa). “The impact is still on him,” the vlogger noted, suggesting that the act of trafficking in such explosive, unproven rumors has diminished Yllana more than his target.
The public is now left at a precarious crossroads. On one hand, there is a horrifying accusation of corruption and depravity that cuts to the very heart of a trusted public institution. On the other, the accusation comes from a source whose credibility and motives are now being openly questioned, with many seeing this as a desperate bid for relevance rather than a genuine act of whistleblowing.
The ball is now firmly in the Senate’s court. Will they launch an investigation to protect the institution’s integrity and root out potential criminality? Or will they dismiss this as baseless gossip, a political circus act designed to destabilize and defame? The public is watching, waiting to see if this dark secret, whether true or false, will be dragged into the light.
