Love, betrayal, and heartbreak—three words that perfectly describe the two disturbing real-life stories that recently gripped Indonesia. Both stories center on women who were pregnant, deeply entangled in complicated relationships, and ultimately met heartbreaking ends at the hands of men they once trusted. What began as ordinary relationships turned into horror stories that reveal the dark and dangerous side of love gone wrong.
The first story is about a 20-year-old woman named Ann (Auntie Pustita Sari) from Palembang, South Sumatra. Ann was known as a cheerful and loving daughter who grew up in a modest but happy home. Though she didn’t finish college, she worked hard to support herself after attending vocational school, landing a job as an admin staff at a small office.

There, she met Adie, the man who would later become her husband. Their early days together seemed blissful—full of love and promises of a simple but happy life. After marriage, Ann stopped working to focus on their home. Later, she tried to help their finances by working as a food delivery rider. Together, they had a child and seemed like a typical young family trying to make ends meet.
But behind the smiles and routines, cracks began to appear. Arguments over money grew more frequent. Ann complained that Adie’s income wasn’t enough to cover their family’s needs. In August 2025, Ann found out she was pregnant again. By October, she was still delivering food, supporting her husband’s daily meals, and doing her best to stay positive.
On October 10, 2025, Ann dropped Adie off at work as usual. Before she left, she told him she had to meet a “friend.” That was the last time Adie saw her alive. Hours later, CCTV footage showed Ann checking into a motel called Ledonis Inn with a man who was not her husband.
When Ann didn’t come home that night, Adie grew worried. He called, texted, and waited, but she never returned. The next day, motel staff noticed that no one had checked out of Room 8. After several attempts to contact the guests, they decided to unlock the room. Inside, they discovered a horrifying scene—blood splattered across the walls and sheets, and the lifeless body of a woman lying motionless on the bed.
The woman was identified as Ann. She had been strangled and brutally beaten. Her body showed signs of struggle. The man she was last seen with had vanished.
Police later identified the man as Febrianto, a 22-year-old who had booked the motel room. Using CCTV footage and hotel records, authorities tracked him down after two days of investigation. When police found him hiding in a nearby town, he tried to flee, forcing officers to shoot him in the leg to stop him.
During interrogation, Febrianto confessed. He admitted that he and Ann had been in an “arrangement” for years—he claimed he was her client when she offered personal services to help support her family. When Ann tried to end their affair, he lost control and killed her in a fit of rage, then stole her motorcycle to escape.
But Ann’s family and husband refused to believe his story. Adie insisted that Ann was a decent woman, incapable of what Febrianto alleged. He suggested that perhaps his wife had been manipulated, drugged, or threatened. A close friend of Ann later revealed that Ann had indeed told her about taking “side jobs” to earn extra income, especially during her pregnancy. The truth remains murky, but one fact is certain—Ann’s decision to meet that man cost her life.
Police have charged Febrianto with murder and theft, and he now faces a possible life sentence—or even death—if convicted.
Just when the nation was still reeling from Ann’s tragic story, another case surfaced—eerily similar, equally shocking.
In Central Kalimantan, 29-year-old Lisa Normalisa, a former nurse, also met a brutal end at the hands of a man she loved. Lisa had been married to Resa, and together they had two sons. Their marriage ended in 2025 after years of conflict. After their divorce, Lisa retained custody of their youngest child—but tragedy struck when the child fell ill and died shortly after.
The loss devastated Lisa. She withdrew from everyone, deleting her social media accounts and isolating herself from the world. Eventually, she found a new sense of purpose by starting a small food business from home, selling cakes and homemade dishes online. It became her way of coping—and slowly, she began to heal.
Then came Alvaro Jordan, a 23-year-old barista from a well-off family. Their paths crossed sometime in early 2025. Lisa fell for him, and by February, they were living together. A month later, Lisa discovered she was pregnant again. She was hopeful, believing that this new chapter could finally bring happiness back into her life.
But Alvaro’s attitude changed. He grew distant and uninterested in her pregnancy. Despite accompanying her to medical checkups, his affection faded. On May 1, 2025, Lisa’s suspicions were confirmed when she caught him chatting and calling another woman. She followed him to work one day and saw him laughing with the same woman at the coffee shop.

Enraged and heartbroken, Lisa confronted Alvaro on May 9, 2025. The argument escalated quickly. Lisa hurled accusations; Alvaro denied them. Words turned to shouting, shouting turned to violence. In a moment of uncontrolled anger, Alvaro strangled Lisa—killing both her and the unborn child she carried.
Afterward, he calmly lay beside her lifeless body, as if nothing had happened. The next morning, he went to work as usual. That night, he placed Lisa’s body in a borrowed car and drove for hours before dumping it beside a dark highway. Then, as if to erase his tracks, he fled the country, flying to Yugta to hide.
Three days later, a local resident discovered Lisa’s decomposing body by the roadside. Through fingerprints and DNA registration, police confirmed her identity. Investigators traced the case back to Alvaro. With coordination between Kalimantan and Yugta authorities, he was captured at a café where he had started working under a fake name.
During questioning, Alvaro confessed to everything. He said he killed Lisa because he believed the baby wasn’t his. A DNA test later confirmed that the child indeed belonged to another man—someone Lisa had allegedly been involved with before meeting him.
But even with this revelation, nothing could justify the murder. Alvaro now faces charges of double murder—one for Lisa and one for her unborn child. Like Febrianto, he could face life imprisonment or death by execution.
These two cases, separated by miles but bound by tragedy, have shaken the hearts of many across Indonesia. Both Ann and Lisa were women trying to survive, to love, to rebuild. Yet both found themselves trapped in relationships that ended in violence and loss.
Their stories are grim reminders that betrayal, jealousy, and desperation can push people past the edge. They also shed light on the silent struggles of women—those who carry the weight of financial hardship, loneliness, and emotional dependence while trying to hold their families together.
In the end, justice may be served through the courts, but no sentence can undo the lives destroyed by rage and betrayal.
The haunting question remains: How far can love go before it turns deadly?
