“You were and will always be a good boy, Ron.”

This was the heartbreaking message of actress Carla Abellana after learning about the gruesome fate of a dog named Ron, who was sold for just ₱500 and brutally killed—his legs tied, his mouth wired shut, and his body stuffed inside a sack where he suffocated to death.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) brought national attention to Ron’s tragic story in a viral Facebook post on July 4, 2025, sharing haunting photos of the lifeless dog with a rope still tied tightly around his snout. The foundation recounted how Ron, loyal and full of trust, wagged his tail that morning, believing he was going for a walk with his owner. Instead, he was handed over to a stranger in exchange for a crumpled ₱500 bill.

“I wagged my tail, I was excited… I thought this was a reward. I was a good boy,” the post imagined Ron’s final thoughts.
“But he wouldn’t look me in the eye.”

Moments later, the stranger bound Ron’s legs with metal wire, tied his mouth shut, and forced him into a white sack. He cried. He screamed. But no one came. The sack became his final prison, suffocating and dark, where he breathed his last breath—alone and terrified.

“I wasn’t going back home. I was sold. For meat. ₱500 — this is what I am worth.”

Shaken by the cruelty, Carla Abellana, a known animal rights advocate, could not hide her anguish. She reposted AKF’s message and added her own:

“He died a painful death inside a sack… God will give you justice. Run to Jesus’ arms now and forever enjoy the rainbow bridge, Sweetheart.”

Thousands have joined Carla in mourning Ron, calling for justice, stricter animal welfare laws, and harsher punishment for those who treat pets as disposable property.

This isn’t just a story of one dog’s death. It’s a brutal reminder of how some animals are betrayed by the very humans they trust the most.

Justice for Ron. No animal deserves to die this way.
